Quick answers
How do I scan a receipt?
Open the Scan tab, tap "Start scan" and hold your receipt as flat as possible in the camera view. FridgeAI detects items and prices automatically. We support major German retailers: REWE, EDEKA, LIDL, ALDI, PENNY, NETTO. Before saving, you can edit or remove any detected item.
My receipt isn't being detected — what now?
Most common causes: receipt is creased, lit unevenly, or too small in the frame. Place it flat on a smooth surface, use daylight or even lighting, and hold the camera parallel above it. If that still fails: add items manually via "Add item".
My barcode isn't found.
FridgeAI uses the public Open Food Facts database. Not every product is listed there — store brands and regional items are sometimes missing. You can add the item manually or contribute it to Open Food Facts (openfoodfacts.org).
I'm not getting expiry reminders.
Check notification permissions:
- iOS: Settings → FridgeAI → Notifications → "Allow Notifications"
- Android: Settings → Apps → FridgeAI → Notifications
Reminders fire around 3 days before expiry, once per day at 06:00 local time.
How do I share my household?
Household sharing is part of FridgeAI Pro. Create a household in settings, send the invite code to your flatmates or family, and they join. Everyone then sees the same pantry and shopping list.
How do I delete my account?
In the app under Profile → Delete account. All personal data is fully removed within 30 days. Your pantry data is tied to your account and is deleted with it — shared households remain for the other members; only your membership ends.
What's FridgeAI Pro and how do I cancel?
Pro unlocks unlimited recipe queries, advanced expiry reminders, unlimited items, and shared households. Cancel via your App Store / Play Store subscription — not in FridgeAI itself:
- iOS: Settings → \[Your name\] → Subscriptions → FridgeAI Pro → Cancel
- Android: Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → FridgeAI Pro → Cancel
Where is my data stored?
Your pantry lives in Google Firestore, region europe-west1 (Frankfurt, Germany). Recipe data comes from Spoonacular (USA), translations from DeepL (Germany). Barcode lookups go to Open Food Facts (France). See the [privacy policy](/legal/en) for full details.
Is there a web version?
Not at the moment — FridgeAI is an iOS and Android app. A web version is not currently planned.
